THE EVENING CONTEMPLATION

It costs me nothing to feel that I am; it is no burden to me. And yet if the mental, physical, chemical, and other innumerable facts concerning all branches of knowledge which have united in me could be broken up, they would prove endless. It is some untold mystery of unity in me, that has the simplicity of the infinite and reduces the immense mass of multitude to a single point.This One in me knows the universe of the many. But, in whatever it knows, it knows the One in different aspects. It knows this room only because this room is One to it, in spite of the seeming contradiction of the endless facts contained in the single fact of the room. Its knowledge of a tree is the knowledge of a unity, which appears in the aspect of a tree.This One in me is creative. Its creations are a pastime, through which it gives expression[vi] to an ideal of unity in its endless show of variety. Such are its pictures, poems, and music, in which it finds joy only because they reveal the perfect forms of an inherent unity.This One in me not only seeks unity in knowledge for its understanding and creates images of unity for its delight; it also seeks union in love for its fulfillment. It seeks itself in others. This is a fact, which would be absurd had there been no great medium of truth to give it reality. In love, we find a joy that is ultimate because it is the ultimate truth. Therefore it is said in the Upanishads that the advaitam is anantam,—"the One is Infinite"; that the advaitam is anandam,—"the One is Love." FORGIVENESS

A fundamental reminder….that in the end as there was in the beginning there is only ONE of us, ONE LOVE that lays at the heart of it all and that will set you free, sets us all free…….may you find your way there now.” Nigel LottWe never put another being out of our hearts because as we do so, we put ourselves outside of our own hearts equal measure.That is to say as long as we hold resentment, a non forgiving posture toward another we are in essence keeping ourselves out from the Love and the peace that Love offers, found in the heart…..we are hurting ourselves. That anger, fear, grief that you are holding onto contaminates your own system.By-all-means…. it maybe perfectly reasonable to be angry (grief) and in some cases the only safe thing to do is to remove yourself from the presence of the person, (sometimes permanently) place or thing whose behavior hurts and is at the very least unkind. However your emotional, psychological reaction to their behavior is your own work on yourself….all-ways.We will never get out of our suffering and travail by dumping it on an-other person, place or thing. Look, its OK to be angry (anger is always ultimately a grief moment) To stay there in anger however keeps you stuck. There is no redeeming value in doing so.Our freedom from what hurts comes about by griefing the perceived loss of Love which is ultimately an illusion (just saying) that is being mirrored in the process with the other entity, person place or thing and the behavior that drives us to the anger, that is driven by fear and the underlying grief that is at the heart of the matter.Finally we come to understand that when we do the work to allow ourselves back into our own hearts and the grace on offer……that when we do do this a space opens up for the other to do the same, seemingly by osmosis…without words, any external action on our part we offer a healing to that other being we had resentment and anger toward, by our own work on ourselves.“May all sentient beings awaken to their own sense of equanimity born out of their hearts longing for peace and re-discover the one true nature that is inherent within them, within us all…..beyond all suffering and travail. There are infinite possibilities that are born of knowing that all love surrounds us all, lives within us and that all life is so very precious, there is not a moment to lose.
